Services :: School-Based Services
We offer mental health services to children, adolescents and families on more than 20 school sites within the Long Beach Unified School District. Program coordinators work closely with school counselors and administrators to identify students who are not reaching their academic or socio-emotional potential due to unmet mental health needs. The services provided are primarily field based and focus on meeting the child and family in their environment, to increase the child’s ability to function at school, in the home, and in their community. Therapists provide individual, family and/or group therapy at the school site or in the child’s home. Case management services are also offered to link families to needed resources within the community. Clients are given access to psychological testing and psychiatric consultation as needed. Ongoing collaboration and support is also offered to school staff, including trainings, interventions and consultation related to mental health issues that affect school functioning. Services are provided in English and Spanish, as well as Khmer.
