We are proud to share the exciting development of our new Family Resource Center (FRC), opening at The Guidance Center headquarters in Long Beach! This new space will be a community hub where children and families can access the resources, programs, and connections they need to heal and thrive.

How the Family Resource Center Will Help
For many families, finding support can be overwhelming and not always as accessible. Our new Family Resource Center will change that by creating one centralized hub for support. Designed with families in mind, this center will bridge the gap between wellness services and specialty mental health needs.
To help families thrive, our expanded services will include:
- Basic Needs Resources: Linkages to food, clothing, and hygiene resources to ease daily struggles
- Speciality Mental Health Care: Expanded access to support groups and parenting workshops to strengthen family relationships
- Workshops and Education: Programs designed to provide practical tools and build self-efficacy
- Community Connection: A safe gathering space to build networks of support with quarterly community events
By addressing both mental health and basic needs, we will give families the foundation to not only survive but to truly thrive.
Meet the Family Resource Center Team
Behind every great program is a dedicated team. Our Family Resource Center team, comprised of Julio Perez and Heidi Diaz, will be the heart of this new space. Their combined leadership and collaboration will ensure it is not just a place, but a community of support and hope.
Family Resource Center Coordinator: Julio Perez
“I’m passionate about creating a welcoming space where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.” ~Julio Perez

Julio Perez, our Family Resource Center Coordinator, will oversee daily operations and serve as a guide for families navigating life’s challenges. He will connect families to vital resources and ensure they feel supported every step of the way. Equipped with a Bachelor’s in Sociology from California State University, Northridge, Julio has a passion for strengthening communities. In preparation for the Center’s opening, Julio is already collaborating with local partners to build connections that will link youth and caregivers to essential resources, support, and growth opportunities.
Through Julio’s leadership and passion for service, he will be a lifeline for families across our communities.
Family Resource Center Case Manager: Heidi Diaz
“Resilience is built when we come together, supporting each other, sharing resources, and creating a stronger community, one person at a time.” ~Heidi Diaz

As the newest member of the team, Heidi Diaz is excited to join us as the Family Resource Center Case Manager. She previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in Health Communication from California State University, Channel Islands, where she deepened her commitment to helping and serving others. Heidi looks forward to planning upcoming workshops and events to engage the community. She is also passionate about ensuring families can easily access the care, resources, and guidance they need to strengthen their well-being and build brighter futures.
