“We’re giving back to the community and making sure there are proper resources for community members.”

– Kris Allen, Guidance Center Board Chair

Last week, our community came together to celebrate the official grand opening of our new Family Resource Center. It was a meaningful day that underscored our agency’s shared commitment to expanding resources for local families. The Press Telegram featured our event, highlighting the importance of this new chapter for The Guidance Center.

Grand Opening Highlights

The celebration opened with a warm welcome from our new Board Chair, Kris Allen, followed by remarks from our Chief Executive Officer, Patricia Costales, LCSW. Together, our community reflected on the vision behind the Family Resource Center and what this new space will mean for children and caregivers. We’re grateful to share this moment with our amazing partners, Josephine S. Gumbiner Foundation, Rudolph J. and Daphne A. Munzer Foundation, Environ Architecture, Inc., and Tyler Construction Services, Inc. It is thanks to their partnership that we were able to bring this extraordinary project to life. We were also joined by Christopher Perez, Community Development Deputy for Congressman Robert Garcia’s office, whose presence continued a special connection to our agency’s growth.

A special highlight of the event was a ribbon-cutting led by Mayor Rex Richardson alongside Julie Meenan, Executive Director of the Josephine S. Gumbiner Foundation. Our team was then presented with a special certificate of acknowledgement from the City of Long Beach to commemorate this important milestone. We are grateful to everyone who attended the grand opening ceremony and helped us open our doors to our new Center.
