As 2025 comes to an end here at The Guidance Center, we pause to acknowledge a year marked by both challenges and moments of deep gratitude. Even as the world at times feels less kind, the people around us continue to show that hope and optimism endure.
We are grateful for our 79-year legacy of uplifting our community and for the donors, partners, and staff whose steadfast support fuels our mission to deliver vital mental health services and create a brighter tomorrow.
The Power of Your Generosity This Year
With your generosity guiding the way, we were able to:
Expand Access to Mental Health Care
- Provide core mental health services to nearly 3,000 children and their families, delivering 68,094 treatment sessions across all three of our clinics, in our schools, and in the community.
Strengthen Community Resources
- Build and open a new Family Resource Center. This space will serve as a community hub where children and families can access the resources, programs, and connections they need to heal and thrive.
- Find a new home for our Compton Clinic. After an extensive 10-year search, this new space, located in the heart of Compton, is nearly double the size of our current location and will allow us to grow in a community that is historically underserved.
Support Children Where They Learn
- Deliver specialty school-based mental health services in more than 60 school campuses in the Long Beach, Los Angeles, Lynwood, and Paramount Unified School Districts.

- Respond to 164 individual crisis interventions and 13 campus-wide interventions, as well as provide 43 supportive services through our School Crisis Response Program.
Create Moments of Care and Connection
- Spread holiday cheer to 102 families – that’s 406 individuals – through our Adopt-A-Family Program. Nearly 100 community members, local organizations, and groups participated, bringing gifts, warmth, and hope to many households this holiday season.

Gratitude for the Community That Makes It Possible
All of these achievements this year would not have been possible without the profound generosity and kindness of each person who plays a role in our mission: our dedicated Guidance Center staff, our thoughtful donors, and our supportive community partners.
In difficult times, it is vital to find a way forward. I thank the extended Guidance Center family for showing the way.
Wishing you a joyful holiday season and a happy, peaceful 2026.
Sincerely,

Patricia Costales, LCSW
